Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about Ash Tree Farm Cobberdogs. If you don't find what you're looking for, please reach out.
How long is the typical wait for a puppy?
Wait times vary depending on our breeding schedule and the number of approved families ahead of you. Our babies are adopted quickly, so reach out early to reserve your furever friend. We'll provide timeline updates when you join our waitlist.
What is included in your health testing?
Our Australian Cobberdogs undergo thorough breed-specific DNA testing and have their hips, elbows, hearts, and eyes assessed for breeding. We're happy to share specific test results during the application process.
How much do your puppies cost?
Our puppies are priced from $4,000 to $5,000 depending on gender and other factors. This reflects the extensive health testing, quality nutrition, veterinary care, socialisation, and lifetime support we provide.
Can I visit before being approved?
At Ash Tree Farm, our Cobberdogs and our family are our absolute priority. We do not offer in-person visits to our home for biosecurity reasons. We share photos and videos throughout the process and are happy to arrange video calls.
What updates will I receive?
We offer clients a unique experience which includes photo and video updates from pregnancy all the way through to their puppy joining them. You'll feel connected to your puppy long before pickup day.
Do you ship puppies?
We strongly prefer in-person pickup to ensure a smooth transition and to meet the families welcoming our puppies. In some cases, we may discuss alternatives, but this is evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Why do you require desexing?
Our desexing requirement helps prevent irresponsible breeding and ensures our puppies don't contribute to overpopulation. Timing is discussed with your vet to ensure optimal health. Breeding homes may be considered on a case-by-case basis with a separate contract.
What happens if I can no longer keep my dog?
We have a lifetime return policy. If for any reason you cannot keep your dog, we will take them back, no questions asked. Our puppies always have a safety net.
How do you match puppies with families?
We observe puppies' temperaments and energy levels, then match based on your family's lifestyle, experience, and stated preferences. While we consider colour/appearance requests, temperament match is our priority.
What is a guardian home?
Most of our breeding dogs live in loving guardian homes - forever families who provide them with all the love and care they deserve. Each dog enjoys a full and happy family life, only returning to us for one or two litters before retiring as a cherished companion.
What if I'm not approved?
If we don't think we're the right match, we'll explain why and, where possible, suggest alternatives that might better suit your situation. This isn't personal; it's about setting everyone up for success.
Do you offer training support?
Yes! We provide resources for puppy preparation, early training guidance, and are available for questions throughout your dog's life. We can also recommend professional trainers in your area.
What's included when I pick up my puppy?
Each puppy comes with age-appropriate vaccinations, veterinary health check, microchip, starter food supply, comfort items with familiar scents, documentation of parent health testing, and our comprehensive puppy care guide.
